Quest Game Tuner
A downloadable tool
Unlock the full power of your Quest

Quest Game Tuner improves your standalone VR experience by automatically adjusting hidden parameters to improve resolution, framerate, and performance - for all Quest VR apps & games.
Many games can get generational improvements - for a fraction of the cost of a new headset.
Meta limits the performance of apps. Quest Game Tuner breaks those limits, letting you get the most of the hardware you already own.
✅ v83 Compatible.
Automatically Enhance Every Game
Auto-Tuning Profiles automatically optimize any VR app or game for your choice of:
-
Performance with high resolutions and higher FPS
- Visual Clarity
with ultra-high definition resolutions
- 120 FPS in
nearly any game
- Battery Saving with
intelligently reduced settings
After setting up Quest Game Tuner, auto-tuning will be applied automatically for every game - no need to configure anything.
Quest 3 & 3S users can expect significant gains in performance and resolutions in most games. Quest 2 users can typically expect improvements to Quest 3 levels.
Customize to Your Heart's Content
You can separately optimize each app, or set them all at once using the Default profile
If you want options, Quest Game Tuner has plenty! Using custom tuning settings, you can manually adjust horizontal & vertical resolution, FPS target, foveation level, and variable refresh.
Advanced tuning options let you disable ASW frame interpolation, enable adaptive refresh rate, and adjust foveation.
Live Tuning means that most changes take effect immediately - without needing to restart the app or game.
Effortless Performance
Adaptive Overclocking intelligently boosts CPU & GPU clock speeds when needed, improving performance by up to 25%.
Unlike traditional clock level settings which run at a fixed speeds and drain battery, Adaptive Overclocking intelligently adjusts clock speeds, using extra power only when it's needed. Auto-tuning takes full advantage of the extra headroom to give you the best possible experience.
Adaptive Overclocking is fully automatic - no configuration needed. Just enable it, and let Quest Game Tuner do the rest.
Static clock levels are available if Dynamic Overclocking is disabled. Adaptive Overclocking is exclusive to Quest Game Tuner.
Create Better Content
Quest Game Tuner also lets you tune your screen recording settings. Fully adjust aspect ratio, resolution, bitrate, framerate and more - all in one convenient place.
Plus, further improve your recordings with steroscopic 3D-capture and exclusive stabilization options.
Recording options can be saved to four profiles for easy switching.
View Your Performance & Playtime
View your playtime in VR apps and games. Android already tracks usage data - Quest Game Tuner lets you see it. Playtime can viewed for each app/game, or all apps at once. You can also see daily and monthly charts.
Monitor in-game performance with the OVR Metrics Tool. Quest Game Tuner lets you easily install, enable, and configure the OVR Metrics Tool, which gives you real-time insights into game performance.

I need help with this app. It only works when it's freshly installed, but when I turn my Quest 3 off and on, the first thing I see is a pop-up window related to wireless ADB or something similar. It appears and disappears so quickly that I can't interact with it or read it properly.
When I open the Quest Game Tuner app, a message appears saying that wireless ADB isn't active or something like that, and basically the app doesn't work. The games run natively even though a message appears saying that the game started with the settings modified in the app.
I can't find any information on how to fix it without having to use a PC to reinstall the app every time I restart the headset. Any ideas?
In most cases, the wireless ADB connection will be retained after the initial install.
The Quest's implementation of this can be a bit finicky, so it can sometimes fail to reconnect. If you wait a bit longer, you'll get a prompt on the Quest Game Tuner window to try some basic troubleshooting steps.
If that's not enough to get you up and running, don't hesitate to reach out on Discord!
Thanks Ethan, I waited and tried the basic troubleshooting steps, a few times, and none of them worked (it says "failed" on the top right". I can reinstall the app and get it working, but as soon as I reset the headset, i'ts useless again.
In a few hours I will send you a message on discord.
How did you do the “automatic” ish setup? I’m trying to make a tool for development and I can’t find good documentation anywhere? Great tool use it a lot.
The internals of the setup process are a bit to complicated for a single post, but I'd be happy to talk development on discord :)
Awsome tool, I bought it yesterday. A request for Ethan M:
Can you add a feature where we can select the default texture size? Just like in sidequest, we can select default texture size and that makes most apps a lot more good looking.
It's not the same as resolution.
SideQuest changes the render texture size - which is equivalent to eye-buffer size, and actually is the same as resolution.
Per Meta's official documentation:
Confusing technical details aside: This has nothing to do with in-game textures, and everything to do with resolution.
This setting is already in Quest Game Tuner, as "Render Resolution" - which more clearly describes what it actually does
Ahh thank you for explaining!
Hi, I have a few Quests (all on the same Meta account). Can I use one license on them all or would I have to buy a license for each?
Ah just read the rest of the comments and see it woks on 3 devices
Will it work on v79 in near future?
I bought the app and forgot to check if it even works on latest version.
With v79, Meta pushed a change which breaks certain parts of the Android settings app.
That makes on-device setup impossible on v79 - but you can still set-up Quest Game Tuner with a connected windows PC.
EDIT: Meta has fixed the issue, on-device setup will work again on the latest PTC update :)
Hi Ethan, I love your Quest Game Tuner App, it works brilliantly.
I do have an issue though, the latest Meta update has broken the link either wired or wireless. (virtual desktop does work though,) So I decided to do a factory reset and see if it would fix the issue. (which it hasn't) anyhow when I went to reinstall and setup Quest Game Tuner it is not accepting my download key. I cannot use sidequest on PC to sideload and install.
So I have installed the sidequest mobile app on my Quest 3 to download and install Game Tuner, it is not accepting my download key and says to contact you, so here I am lol
Kind Regards
Kev

EDIT: Glad I could help :)
Hello, I'm considering buying your (awesome) tool but how does licensing work for this with future major version updates? I also have some concerns to address. While elevating performance may benefit one, it also comes at the cost of increased battery drain and extra generated heat. You say the Quest will function within spec, but won't it also cause the built-in fan to rev up? There's of course ventilation constraints to take into consideration aka be aware of. A fan can only ramp up so much and if the temps keep rising throttling will kick in. This of course would negate the benefits of increased performance. This is why many or most manufacturers down- or underclock the hardware, so that there's an acceptable balance or trade-of between performance and battery drain/heat. TY for answering my questions and for your time/dedication developing/maintaining this great app!
All updates to Quest Game Tuner are, and always will be, completely free.
Quest headsets can cool themselves quite well if the fan ramps up and vents aren't blocked. Throttling is rare, but increased temps, noise and battery drain are to be expected when using elevated clocks and settings.
You can use the different available tuning profiles or manual tuning to achieve your ideal balance of performance and power consumption.
This tool really makes the difference, easy to setup and to use, it's worth the price.
My oculus quest 2 feels like it's reborn 🙏❤️
Best purchase for any headset (as long as it's paired with a battery strap, the drain is quicker); the only stuff I'm curious about is how do the CPU/GPU level settings work? (e.g. dynamic, 7, 8), and how does the auto-tuning work?
Thanks for making this tool!
noooooo i cant afford😭😭😭
Could You Please Add 60 Target FPS & Custom Resolution Value?
One Game I Play Would Benefit From 60 FPS + More Options Are Always Better
60FPS has been known to cause issues and is not supported by some headsets. Many guides and tools you find online are incorrect or out of date.
All available options in Quest Game Tuner have been tested to work with Quest 2,3, & 3S on the latest OS versions.
If you know what you're doing, you can directly modify properties files in `android/data/com.threethan.tuner`, but unlisted values might not work as you'd expect.
I Don't Mind Not Having a 60 FPS Option But I Would Still Love a Custom Value Resolution Feature, Could That Be Done?
It would be almost useless to add a custom resolution because almost every standalone quest game locks your resolution and its impossible to bypass
The majority of Quest standalone games work great with resolution tuning - though some benefit more than others.
Quest Game Tuner includes a list of vertical and horizontal resolution options that are known to work across most titles.
Hi pls add crypto payment, for some countries don't have access PayPal, i need to buy it
Thanks
Will this app help with the FOV issue on Quest 3 when recording so the bottom portion of the video doesn't get cut off?
You can easily change stabilization options with Quest Game Tuner, which effect the recording FOV. You can also customize the recording aspect ratio.
However, you cannot increase recording FOV beyond the level of disabling stabilization.
where do i find my key after sideloading?
The key is on the itch.io purchase page which comes up immediately after purchasing. It can always be recovered through your purchase email or itch.io account.
Please refer this support page for specifics: https://itch.io/docs/buying/already-bought
The key used to anonymously activate Quest Game Tuner will display on itch.io as an "External Key". You may need to click a button to claim it.
Can you install it via an android phone?
Also ill be doing the install via the headset, stupid question but do I have too buy it direct on the headset on its web browser?
You can install it with just the headset, check the installation guide. (Trying to install to your headset using phone would just overcomplicate things.)
You can purchase it wherever is convinient. If you want to access the purchase on multiple devices, you can create an itch.io account for free.
Great app, really Easy to use and works really good 10/10
I have been using Quest Game Tuner for a while now - it's extremely easy to setup and use for a novice, with the base profiles being very good for improving Visual Clarity, Performance etc by default, but it also gives you the ability to deeply hone each individual app to your liking. If you're on the fence about buying Quest Game tuner - maybe because you already have Quest Game Optimizer I'd suggest you give it a go. It's not expensive and is constantly being improved upon. Like myself and others this may end up being your go-to Launcher.
I have to say this is a great app so far. Really enjoying this app. This has replaced me using Quest Game Optimizer. Really looking to forward to continuing updates to this app. Highly recommend this app :-)
Got a few people asking for a discord, so I set one up! It's currently pretty simple, but feel free to get in touch there as well:

Nice simple app. Not too many functions. reduced to the essentials. i like it. Is there a way to export your custom profiles for a backup?
Edit: Answer is now in Frequently Asked Questions
understood. Perfect, thanks.👍
Hey! Thought I posted a comment yesterday but can’t seem to find it. I can’t seem to cast my quest 2 from the phone app or even open the camera app on the headset. Is this a bug related to your app or something else going on?
If you can't even open the camera app, it's probably unrelated. You can try to disable tuning and revert any custom recording settings.
If you want more help, ask in Questions, Support and Requests or on Discord.
I get a device ID when you sign up, that's it. You need wifi for the debug bridge, but once you've activated QGT an internet connection isn't required whatsoever.
Accessibility is used only to auto-click ok on reboot, and to detect when you open a game to apply your settings.
Everything's completely on-device and their are no analytics whatsoever.
I've added some info to Frequently asked Questions. If you want to discuss further, you can join the discord.
UPDATE: As of 1.5.0, the accessibility service is now optional, and can be disabled from the settings.
Agh ! Nooooo !
I had just bought Quest Games Optimizer a small while ago, not knowing this would release. I was already using LightningLauncher and actually preferring it over QGO's launcher.
Well, this is quite the predicament I'm in now.
And your tool working automatically looks like a really useful feature over QGO. I'm absolutely willing to buy it, but problem is that it would make the money I spent on QGO useless...
Hi!
I was originally about to purchase QGO to replace Lightning Launcher, but now that I saw that LL had an inbuilt tuner through QGT im really considering this instead! =)
I currently own 2 VR headsets (Quest 2 & 3) and wondered if 1 license would be sufficient for both the devices like QGO?
Yes! One license may be used for up to three unique devices.
How are Licenses associated with Devices?
Is it IP Based?
Is it HWID Based?
Is it Account Based?
Username Based?
What would happen if I have a Quest 3, a Quest 2, and Quest 3s and later on they release a Quest 4? Is there anyway to de authenticate one of the previous devices to then use the license on the upgraded generation such as selling an old one and logging out and logging into the new device with the same key?
It's based on a unique hardware ID. You can use your activations for multiple of your own devices, or share them with friends.
Once a device is activated, it will remain activated indefinitely, even without an internet connection.
For now, you may leave a message on the support page if you would like your key reset.
Nice! I bought QGT to support Lightning Launcher, but it's actually a very helpful tool on its own.
Is there a way to disable the automatic shutdown when QGT is running? I can only choose the timeout, but not deactivate it completely.
In the grid view with 4 columns, maybe the "Open" link button should be replaced with a profile name button (with line wrapping)? After all, a game can be opened by clicking the big game icon. Currently, the profile name is cut off, and it is not immediately obvious that it is clickable.
It might also help to have OK & Cancel buttons when configuring a game. Yes, clicking into the background or pushing B does the trick. But a proper way to show users that settings were applied or discarded with the corresponding buttons would be reassuring.
Of course these are only suggestions and not requests. Anyways, thanks for QGT and LL 💖
Fantastic suggestions! I rolled them into a quick 1.0.1 update, along with auto-update and some minor fixes.
Thanks for your support. ❤️
it would be useful to have a quick access in the Lightning Launcher to activate deactivate OVR metrics tool
I modify my profiles from Lightning Launcher
Working well, thanks!
Hello
I activate "enable metrics overlay" and when I click on the notched wheel nothing opens and I return to the main menu.
thank you
If it's not installed automatically, you can get OVR Metrics Tool on the Quest Store.
Seems way easier to use than qgo tbh. Also the ad block is nice.
just did the setup and things def look a bit better.
Do you own both of them?
If you do can you compare them?
Yeah, I'd like that. Now that there's 2 of these type of programs, I don't which one to get. Just got my Quest a few days ago and found out about QGO and QGT. QGT is pretty new and I couldn't find any videos or any type of comparisons online.
